Hi, I'm Jena

I split my time between North Topsail Beach, North Carolina and Johnson, Vermont, with my husband Jacob and two dogs named Carter and Rae (yes, that's where the name comes from). I've spent almost five years in digital marketing, I'm a certified yoga teacher, and I'm the only person you'll ever deal with here.

Almost five years in digital marketing and AI search

By day I'm the Digital Marketing Manager and AI Search Strategist at a Vermont digital agency. I was tracking AI-driven traffic for clients before most agencies knew to look for it, and in my first year running the agency's paid search accounts, conversions rose an average of 112% over the year before.

What that looks like on your site: a plain FAQ and the schema behind it, a heading structure a machine can follow, alt text on every image, and the dozen quieter things that make a site easy to read and easy to cite. Then I go over it for typos, broken links, and design flaws, because those are the first things a stranger notices.

I hold current Google Ads, Google Display, and Google Analytics certifications, and I went through a full-stack web development bootcamp, which is why I can hand-code a site like this one instead of decorating a template. Before marketing I spent twelve years in healthcare, which is where I learned to explain complicated things to people who just want an answer.

The part where I became the client

A few years ago my mom took a couple of falls, and I started thinking hard about balance, strength, and what it takes to age well. I got serious about my own practice, then went and got certified to teach it, and somewhere in there Carter & Rae Yoga stopped being a hobby and became a business with a website, an inquiry form, and a marketing budget, all of which I had to build and run myself.

So I've been the client. I know what it costs in time and energy, and I know which of these jobs you'd rather never think about again.
